- 3–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup butter (divided)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup tomato puree
- Additional spices: garam masala, turmeric, cumin to taste
Instructions
- 1. Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
- 2. In a bowl, combine yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, and salt.
- 3. Toss in chicken pieces and marinate for at least one hour (overnight is best).
- 4. In a large frying pan over medium heat, melt half of the butter.
- 5. Add marinated chicken pieces to the pan and cook until golden brown and cooked through (about 8-10 minutes). Remove chicken and set aside.
- 6. In the same pan, add remaining butter along with minced garlic and grated ginger; sauté until fragrant.
- 7. Stir in tomato puree and simmer for a few minutes while stirring.
- 8. Return cooked chicken to the pan with the sauce. Pour in heavy cream and adjust spices as needed; stir until combined.
- 9. Let simmer on low heat for about ten minutes.
- 10. Serve hot over basmati rice or with naan bread. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
