Description

Irresistible Homemade Butter Chicken is a flavorful, creamy dish that offers a delightful mix of spices, perfect for family dinners or impressing guests.


Ingredients

  • 34 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup butter (divided)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • Additional spices: garam masala, turmeric, cumin to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
  2. 2. In a bowl, combine yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, and salt.
  3. 3. Toss in chicken pieces and marinate for at least one hour (overnight is best).
  4. 4. In a large frying pan over medium heat, melt half of the butter.
  5. 5. Add marinated chicken pieces to the pan and cook until golden brown and cooked through (about 8-10 minutes). Remove chicken and set aside.
  6. 6. In the same pan, add remaining butter along with minced garlic and grated ginger; sauté until fragrant.
  7. 7. Stir in tomato puree and simmer for a few minutes while stirring.
  8. 8. Return cooked chicken to the pan with the sauce. Pour in heavy cream and adjust spices as needed; stir until combined.
  9. 9. Let simmer on low heat for about ten minutes.
  10. 10. Serve hot over basmati rice or with naan bread. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
