- 16 oz elbow macaroni
- 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
- 8 oz cream cheese (block)
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Optional: garlic powder for seasoning breadcrumbs
Instructions
- 1. Boil 8 cups of water in a large pot. Add salt generously. Cook the elbow macaroni until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- 2. In your crockpot, combine the cooked macaroni with cubed cream cheese, shredded cheddar (reserve some for topping), butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
- 3. Set your crockpot on low heat and cover with the lid. Cook for about 2 hours without opening the lid.
- 4. After two hours, mix in the panko breadcrumbs and any remaining cheddar cheese on top. Cover again and cook for an additional 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
