- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 3–4 tbsp cold water
- 3 cups sliced fresh apples (preferably Granny Smith)
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust for sweetness)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- For the Crust: In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add chilled butter and blend until crumbly.
- Gradually add cold water until the dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
- For the Filling: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples and fresh cranberries.
- Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon; stir gently to coat.
- To Assemble: Roll out half of the chilled dough and place it in a pie dish.
- Pour in the apple-cranberry mixture evenly.
- Dot with small pieces of butter.
- Roll out the second half of the dough to cover or create a lattice top; crimp edges to seal.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
- To Serve: Allow cooling for at least one hour before slicing.
- Enjoy warm or cold, perhaps with ice cream or whipped cream.
