Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 34 tbsp cold water
  • 3 cups sliced fresh apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. For the Crust: In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add chilled butter and blend until crumbly.
  3. Gradually add cold water until the dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  4. For the Filling: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples and fresh cranberries.
  6. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon; stir gently to coat.
  7. To Assemble: Roll out half of the chilled dough and place it in a pie dish.
  8. Pour in the apple-cranberry mixture evenly.
  9. Dot with small pieces of butter.
  10. Roll out the second half of the dough to cover or create a lattice top; crimp edges to seal.
  11. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  12. To Serve: Allow cooling for at least one hour before slicing.
  13. Enjoy warm or cold, perhaps with ice cream or whipped cream.
