- 9 lasagna noodles (cooked according to package instructions)
- 1 cup elbow macaroni (cooked)
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey, or plant-based alternative)
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook lasagna noodles and elbow macaroni until al dente, according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, draining excess fat if needed.
- Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to meld flavors.
- In another pot, melt butter over low heat. Whisk in flour until combined.
- Gradually add milk while stirring constantly until thickened.
- Stir in shredded cheddar and mozzarella until melted.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a baking dish, spread half of the meat mixture at the bottom, followed by half of the cooked macaroni.
- Pour half of the cheese sauce over that layer and repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
