Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles (cooked according to package instructions)
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni (cooked)
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey, or plant-based alternative)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook lasagna noodles and elbow macaroni until al dente, according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, draining excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to meld flavors.
  4. In another pot, melt butter over low heat. Whisk in flour until combined.
  5. Gradually add milk while stirring constantly until thickened.
  6. Stir in shredded cheddar and mozzarella until melted.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. In a baking dish, spread half of the meat mixture at the bottom, followed by half of the cooked macaroni.
  9. Pour half of the cheese sauce over that layer and repeat with remaining ingredients.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for about 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
