Description

Indulge in a rich and festive Chocolate Yule Log, beautifully rolled and covered in velvety ganache, perfect for holiday celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs and vanilla extract until frothy.
  4. Gently fold the egg mixture into dry ingredients until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While the cake is cooling, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  7. Once slightly cooled, invert the cake onto powdered sugar-dusted parchment paper. Carefully peel off the lining and roll it up tightly while still warm.
  8. Unroll the cake gently, spread whipped cream filling over it, then roll it back up.
  9. For ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering then pour over dark chocolate chips in a bowl. Let it sit for five minutes and stir until smooth.
  10. Coat the rolled cake generously with ganache and drizzle any extra on top before serving.
