Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Cajun spice blend (paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, oregano)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring chicken broth to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Gradually whisk in grits while stirring continuously. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes until thickened.
  3. Stir in butter and season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter until bubbly.
  5. Add shrimp seasoned with Cajun spice blend. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until shrimp turns pink and opaque.
  6. Pour in heavy cream and stir gently to create a sauce. Let it simmer for another couple of minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Spoon creamy grits into bowls or plates.
  8. Top with the Cajun shrimp mixture.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions.
