Description

Indulge in moist layers of rich chocolate cake, filled and frosted with creamy peanut butter frosting—a perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond milk)
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (natural for best flavor)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round cake pans with butter or cooking spray and dust them with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, whole milk, creamy peanut butter, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  4. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients while mixing until combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool in their pans for about ten minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. In a bowl, cream together softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  8. Add in creamy peanut butter and mix until well incorporated.
  9. Once cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate.
  10. Spread a generous layer of frosting on top before adding the second layer.
  11. Frost around the sides of the cake if desired.
