- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (14 oz each) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (15 oz each) kidney and black beans, drained and rinsed
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add chopped onion and sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until no longer pink (about 7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
- Sprinkle in chili powder and cumin over the browned beef. Stir well to coat everything evenly with spices.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes along with their juices. Add drained beans and mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let simmer for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors beautifully.
