Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 3 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak into thin strips against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  3. In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
  4. Add sliced flank steak in a single layer and sear without stirring for 1 minute. Stir frequently until browned, about 3 minutes total.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and stir everything together for another 2 minutes on high heat until thickened slightly.
  6. Remove from heat, toss in chopped green onions just before serving. Serve over steamed rice or crispy noodles.
